Colour Me Happy (10/4/2018)

This morning I woke up late and felt bad for letting the team down, but at the same time I felt only relief that I had an exceptional nights sleep.

We went to Guatapé for the day and it was glorious. This town is a must see, the entire town is so cute and I was fascinated at everything I saw.

We caught a train and then a bus for a few hours until we arrived in Guatapé. Once we arrived we looked at our target with regret – El Penin looked hard. We walked up a mountain and then reached the steep stairs that would take us to the top of a giant rock. The stairs were not too many in number (659) but man was it challenging. Each step was slippery and tiny – mix that in with my limited fitness… it’s safe to say that it was hard and it took a long time.

Once we reached the top we stared out at the beautiful islands of Guatapé and the walk became worth it. We spent some time taking photos. Well mostly laughing at everyone else taking photos in 30 different poses and were fascinated with how much work they put in to taking the perfect insta photo.

We started to head down the stairs and surprisingly going down was even harder. The steps were smaller and slipperier on the way down (yes it was a different path) and then it started bucketing down with rain. We quickly ran to a car and headed into the town centre.

A delicious meal was eaten while we waited for the rain to pass.

Once the rain stopped we headed out to explore the city. We took in all the beautiful buildings, enjoyed the scenery and were fascinated by the colours displayed. Honestly, this town was just so ridiculously pretty. I loved it!

The train and bus back took a few hours and then we enjoyed yer another tasty homemade meal. Who knew cooking was so much fun?!
